Dent Repair FAQ's - Frequently Asked Questions on Dent Repair
What is Paintless Dent Repair or Dent Removal?
The fastest, most efficient way of removing door dings and minor dents
from cars, small trucks and SUV's. Paintless Dent Repair or Removal (PDR)
is done with specialized tools. The tools are used to press the dents
or dings in the metal back into its original form.
How is PDR done?
The process utilizes specialized tooling used by our trained and highly
skilled technicians. Using car lines as a point of reference the dent
repair technician will gently apply pressure to massage the damaged area
from behind to return the metal to it's original form. This is done without
disturbing the car or truck finish.
How long does it take?
Most jobs can be completed in less than an hour start to finish, this
includes the tooling and set time required. Multiple dings or excessive
damage may take longer.
How much does it cost?
Exact pricing is impossible to quote without seeing the dent. However
depending on depth, location and ease access, the price can vary between
$100 - $175 - Multiple dings and dents will lower the cost per repair.
(IMPORTANT NOTE: Remote services, coming to your home or business the
price will increae to $150-$200.)
What Can Be Fixed using PDR?
Paintless dent repair is very effective for very small and even
some large dents on cars and trucks, 1990 model year and newer. The dent
repair requires that the dent has not broken or cracked the finish. The
PDR process is very effective for car dents from hail damage. Your insurance
company will usually pay "hail teams" that "chase hail"
storms. These teams travel to an area that was hit by hail to repair vehicle
damage using the PDR techniques. We can fill this need in the greater
Boston area.
What Can't Be Fixed using PDR?**
Not all damage to the body of a vehicle can be repaired with PDR techniques.
Dents that have cracked the paint finish or dents near the edge of a panel.
Dents that have had previous body repair.
** While a dent may not be removed completely, often a repair will make
the damage much less noticeable.
